UFCJC Launches Online Professional Development Course for Communication Leaders

The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications today announced the launch of an online professional development course called Leadership Essentials for Communications Professionals. This is the first in a series of professional and workforce development courses the College will release over the coming months.

The “Leadership Essentials for Communications Professionals” course aims to transform how individuals interact by focusing on four key areas: Understanding Effective Communication, Developing Self-Awareness, Building Productive Relationships, and Motivating Team Performance. The course is taught by Todd Dewett, an internationally sought-after expert, four-time TEDx speaker and award-winning professor.

Professional and workforce development courses are non-degree and non-credit-earning courses that are open to the public. At the completion of each course, individuals are awarded a digital badge from Credly that they can share with their professional networks.

Evan Kropp, executive director of Distance Education for the College said, “Short educational courses empower professionals to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving world by offering focused, practical knowledge that can be immediately applied. Lifelong learning not only helps individuals keep skills sharp but also opens doors to new opportunities. Earning digital badges provides a tangible recognition of expertise and commitment signaling to employers and peers alike that they are dedicated to continuous growth.”

Additional courses launching this fall include topics like Misinformation/Disinformation, Multimedia Editing, Artificial Intelligence and other essential communication related topics.

The Leadership Essentials for Communications Professionals cost is $99 per participant. Individuals can enroll and start at any time.
