Lissy Calienes Selected as Roger Hatchuel Student Academy Dean for the 2025 Cannes Lions Festival
Elizabeth (Lissy) Calienes, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Advertising associate instructional professor, has been selected to serve as the dean of the Roger Hatchuel Student Academy, part of the Cannes Lions Festival in France from June 16-20, 2025.
The longest-running Lions Academy is a prestigious program that takes place during the festival and includes the top 30 student applicants from 30 countries. The program provides an intense, immersive learning experience during the creative industry’s most celebrated event.
As dean, Calienes will shape the curriculum and bring in industry leaders as guest speakers to enrich the experience. The Academy is designed to empower and inspire future professionals across marketing, advertising and related creative fields.
Calienes co-led a study-abroad experience for UFCJC students at the 2024 festival. Another Cannes Lions Festival study-abroad program is planned for June 2025.
Calienes was selected from a highly competitive pool of industry leaders and academics from around the world. She is an accomplished creative strategist, visual communicator and educator with a career spanning three decades in advertising, shopper marketing, graphic design, retail design and film production. She earned a Ph.D. emphasizing authenticity in communications and design and a Master ‘s of Interior Design from the UF College of Design, Construction and Planning.
