Special Events


The College offers events throughout the year focused on increasing student knowledge, experience and connections. That includes guest speakers, workshops, community events and more.

In addition, the College sponsors and coordinates a variety of annual events for students, professionals and the local community, including:

Annual Awards Banquet, held in April, celebrates achievements from our students, faculty and staff, and honors our new alumni Hall of Fame members.

Becoming a Woman of Influence, held in the spring semester, is a leadership symposium featuring CJC alumnae and designed to inspire students and emerging professionals to enter the workforce with confidence and impact.

Climate Communications Summit brings together journalists, practitioners and scientists to discuss how to effectively communicate issues related to climate change and the environment. 

frank, an annual gathering for those who use communications to drive positive social, institutional and behavioral change, informs and drives the field of public interest communications through research, insights and news.

Great Storytellers showcases some of today’s most highly-regarded storytellers across media and platforms, including award-winning authors, journalists, photographers, documentarians, bloggers and performance artists. 

Science Journalist in Residence brings leading science writers to UF to interact with faculty and students during public events, in the classroom, and in meetings directly with students and faculty.

Summer Media Institute is a five-night, six-day workshop, where high school students are immersed in journalism and communications. Students take part in an assortment of electives and specializations, and learn from award-winning UF instructors and industry stalwarts.
