Join us on a month-long United Kingdom excursion, where you will visit and explore the country’s sporting culture and delve into the UK and all it has to offer. The program will be based in London during the build-up to the world-famous Wimbledon tennis tournament. Additionally, there will be one excursion outside of London to be determined. The application deadline is Feb. 7, 2025.

Study Abroad Teaching: Multimedia Sports Reporting
This study abroad program immerses students in the vibrant sporting culture of London, offering exclusive access to some of the world’s most iconic sporting venues. Participants will tour historic locations such as Wimbledon, Lord’s Cricket Grounds, and the Queen’s Club, learning about the rich traditions of tennis, cricket, and more.
The program includes either tours and/or attendance at live events, giving students the chance to experience the excitement and history at Craven Cottage, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Olympic Stadium, Lord’s, Wimbledon and Queen’s. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the history, culture, and global significance of these venues and their respective sports. With a perfect blend of tours and live events, this program offers a thrilling exploration of London’s sporting heritage.
Students will experience the opportunity to explore the rich cultural and historical landmarks of London. Participants will visit world-renowned sites such as the British Museum, where they can explore diverse collections spanning centuries of history. The program includes visits to iconic landmarks like St. James Park, Buckingham Palace, and the Changing of the Guards, offering insight into British traditions and royal history.
Students will also have the chance to admire the architectural grandeur of St. Paul’s Cathedral and discover the fascinating exhibits at the Natural History Museum. With a blend of art, history, and culture, this program provides a unique, immersive experience in one of the world’s most vibrant cities.
There will also be a unique blend of academic learning and hands-on experience in the world of sports, with a special focus on tennis and racquet sports in the UK. Students will engage with a diverse range of guest speakers from the sporting industry, gaining insights from experts across various fields in sports media. The program includes opportunities for reporting on tennis at prestigious venues such as Queen’s Club and Wimbledon, providing a real-world perspective on sports media and journalism.
In addition, participants will attend visits, workshops, and peer-to-peer events at leading institutions like St. Mary’s University, University of East London, and Loughborough University London, where they can deepen their academic understanding of sports media, management, communication, and culture. Combining academic coursework with practical experience, this program offers an immersive exploration of the sporting landscape in the UK.
