CJC's new Globalizing the NFL course includes a trip to Munich, Germany for the first-ever NFL game played in that country.
RTV4930: Globalizing the NFL
On Nov. 13, the NFL is hosting its first-ever American football game in Munich, Germany with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers facing off against the Seattle Seahawks. In Globalizing the NFL, available only in fall 2022, students will travel to Munich from Nov. 10–15, 2022 to provide coverage for CJC’s media properties, including WRUF (ESPN Gainesville) and WUFT.
More so than coverage of the game itself, students will produce stories about the atmosphere surrounding this historical event, the local fans, and the American football culture in Germany. They will directly interact with Germans and American expats living in Germany. This course and program will also study how American football organizations are using media to try to expand internationally, and include guest speakers from the International American Football Federation.
The class will meet for two hours on Tuesdays from 12:50 to 2:45 p.m. Pre- and post-production for stories from Munich will take place at the College throughout the semester.
The course is available to any UF undergraduate student, and CJC Professional Master’s students provided they do additional graduate work.
