About the Program

MPMT Chair Roxane Coche and Sports Journalism and Communication Director Eric Esterline will lead you through this sports journalism experience to create media coverage surrounding both games.

The coverage will focus mostly on social/cultural aspects (e.g., basketball in French culture, differences between French league rules and NBA rules, NBA fans in Paris, etc.) rather than athletic/results-based stories. Access to either game is not guaranteed. You are free to buy a ticket to either game if you wish.

The trip includes a behind-the-scenes tour of a French soccer stadium, a backstage tour of Roland-Garros, a narrated sightseeing cruise on the Seine river, a ticket to the Montparnasse tower panoramic observation deck, housing for four nights in Paris, tuition for one credit hour, and limited meals.

This program mirrors the professional experiences of journalists: you will have only a couple of days to understand some of the dynamics in the host culture before writing about it. There is a prerequisite course that you MUST take for the last eight weeks of the fall semester. You will be registered if selected for the program.

Costs: $1,467 (undergraduate students), $1,485 (graduate students)
