The foundation of journalism and communications is rooted in its commitment to truth, accuracy, and the exchange of relevant information without bias. As we work to strengthen public trust and accountability to citizens, it is imperative that our professional journalists and communicators document the lives of all the communities they serve in an authentic and respectful manner.   That requires telling full and complete stories of and for the people, ensuring that all communities are represented in public discussions. This inclusive storytelling will equip our students to be successful professional journalists, prepared to bring vital information to people across cultures, regions, and demographics, at the highest of ethical standards.

For that reason, the College of Journalism and Communications has partnered with NBCU Academy to provide the NBCU Academy Fellowship for Inclusive Storytelling. NBCU has committed funding, mentorship, educational resources, and internship and job opportunities to support the future of professional journalists and communicators who are committed to bringing the stories of overlooked communities to the public at large.
