What are you teaching this semester?

I’m teaching PUR3500 Public Relations Research Methods this semester. 

What is your area of expertise?

I conduct research on disaster communication among multiethnic communities, organization-public relationships, and social networks.

What research are you working on?

I am working on a project to assess the effectiveness of cultural tailoring strategies of chatbots for public agencies to communicate disaster preparedness. The project will be the first to test the potential of Generative AI in public disaster communication in a multiethnic community context. 

Significant other, children, pets?

I have a daughter, Nora, and a son, Luke. 

What excites you most about coming to Gainesville?

Working at UF and exploring the sunshine state of Florida. 

What accomplishments, personal or professional, are you most proud of?

I’m proud of being the first in my family to receive a Ph.D.

Your hero or biggest inspiration (alive or historical)?

My doctoral advisor, Sandra Ball-Rokeach, has been my biggest inspiration. She has shown me what a female scholar and mentor can accomplish. 

What three things don’t we know about you?

  1. I am an avid backpack traveler
  2. I actually love humid and warm weather because that’s similar to what I grew up with
  3. I’m allergic to alcohol
