What are you teaching this academic year?
I will be teaching Advertising Strategy and Mixed Research Methods in Spring 2024.
What is your area of expertise?
My research lies at the intersection of the psychological effects of new media and strategic communication, focusing on how affordances of emerging media technologies (e.g., chatbots, AI-enabled tools) shape communication behaviors and effectiveness.
What research are you working on?
Currently, I’m working on several projects related to my research expertise, including studying how to leverage conversational chatbots for effective health communication, how consumers perceive and interact with virtual influencers on social media, and how consumers’ knowledge about AI and algorithms lead to different perceptions and attitudes toward media content.
Significant other, children, pets?
Yes, my husband and I are expecting our first child this fall.
What excites you most about coming to Gainesville?
I’m excited about joining such a vibrant academic community and looking forward to enjoying sunny days in Gainesville. I’m also a fan of many sports, like tennis, badminton, and soccer, and I know Gainesville is an excellent place for sports enthusiasts.
What accomplishments, personal or professional, are you most proud of?
I’m proud of being not only the first person in my family to graduate from college, but also the first to obtain my PhD.
