Ben Vollmer is a doctoral student at the University of Florida in the department of Media Production, Management, and Technology.

His research interests stem from a wide variety of professional experience, including writing about local communities and video games. His interests have branched into the ways people communicate, affordances in digital spaces, and AI effects and development.

He earned Journalism Student of the Year in his senior year at the University of North Florida, covering a range of local topics for the Florida Times-Union. He has been nominated as a graduate student teacher of the year for both the CJC and university at large. He also enjoys visualizing data, specifically using software like Tableau.
