Olivia Bullock, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor - Department of Advertising
Bullock comes to UFCJC from George Washington University where she served as an assistant professor of communication and director of the Undergraduate Communication Program. She is a communication researcher and practitioner with more than a decade of experience exploring persuasive messaging in health, science and technology contexts. Her research focuses on how message design can reduce barriers to information processing and how effective information processing evoked through message design can facilitate persuasion.
Her research has appeared in a number of peer-reviewed journals including Political Communication, Human Communication Research, Journal of Language and Social Psychology, Communication Studies and Group Processes and Intergroup Relations.
In addition to her research, Bullock is a communication practitioner, with previous experience working in public relations and advertising agencies in Washington, D.C., as a consultant on the Department of Health and Human Services’ “We Can Do This” COVID-19 vaccine campaign, and as an executive for digital health startup.
