William Maxham joined the WUFT Weather Team, the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network, and the South Carolina Emergency Information Network as a meteorologist in January of 2024.
Maxham has over 15 years of experience as a broadcast meteorologist, most recently with Fox 25 in Oklahoma City. In his career, he has been making forecasts on television covering parts of over 10 different states and climates from New Mexico to New York. Some of the most notable events he has covered include Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, two “snowmageddon” large east coast snowstorms, as well as tracking tornadoes on air through several severe weather events.
Before working in television, Maxham earned a M.S. in Meteorology from Florida State University and a B.S. in Earth and Atmospheric Science from Georgia Tech. While in graduate school, he also served as an instructor at Florida State for several meteorology courses. As a broadcast meteorologist, he has spoken at dozens of schools about severe weather and safety. He has also worked as a substitute teacher while in Oklahoma, and is proud to be working at UF to prepare students for a career as a broadcast meteorologist.
